About
Robert Oakes
Robert was born and grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Moving out to Kamloops, BC in the late 1980’s he pursued a career as a magazine photographer and writer. Over the next ten years Robert was published in a number of Canadian and international magazines both as a wildlife and sports photographer. In the latter capacity he also covered three Grey Cups as a member of the press.
It was also during this time
that fibromyalgia became a major force in his life.
Although it was quite debilitating at the time it forced him deeper into
the study of natural healing and spirituality.
Already versed in herbalism and energy work, Robert explored these
further as well as apprenticing in Celtic shamanism. From there Robert studied under healers and healing systems
from all parts of the world including Navajo, Japanese, Chinese, Tibetan,
Celtic, and western modern medicine among others.
Robert moved back to Winnipeg in the late 1990’s and quickly joined the Ojibwe and Sioux communities which he was privileged to become a Sun Dancer, Pipe Carrier, and Sweat Lodge Carrier. For Robert it was a time of drawing together various systems of healing and spirituality.
It was also during this time that Robert started training in VortexHealing®. This system of healing has allowed him to achieve deeper levels of healing both within himself and with his clients. It can not only be used to deal with the root cause of illness but is also an incredible tool for spiritual development and growth.
Robert is active as a writer and workshop presenter. Current subject matter covers health, spirituality, ethnobotany and eco-psychology.
In addition to being a medical intuitive and his healing training, Robert has a degree in psychology and botany from the University of Manitoba. Robert's main interest areas are in transpersonal psychology, eco-psychology, mycology, and ethnobotany. He continues to train in herbalism, homeopathy, energy work, shamanism, as well as many others.
In October of 2007, Robert had a profound experience during a healing session. A tremendous amount of Shakti Divine energy started to channel through his system. Accompanying this energy was the manifestation of Divine Beings. This channeling went on for close to an hour, during which time Robert temporarily lost use of his eyes, and had to concentrate to retain consciousness. The result of it, was a powerful new system of healing that was not only more direct but also adaptable to all situations.
It is with great pleasure that Robert returns to the coast of beautiful British Columbia to establish a home.
